Green Choices

There is an increasing concern of where paper comes from and if it is recycled. Eco-friendly paper can sometimes equal compromised archival quality or less than a pleasant look but I try to give you choices without compromising your desire for stewardship of the earth and having a beautiful invitation. A product qualifies as a "Green Choice" if is recycled with at least 30% post-consumer waste (PCW).

Some things Paper Artistry does to be "Green":

- use paper that has a PCW of 30% to 100%. Even metallic papers have PCW;
- 100% cotton or bamboo paper is available so no trees are used in the production.....ask about this paper;
- recycle all scrap, cropped and leftover paper, ribbon & supplies to children's daycares & brownies;
- use a Xerox Phaser 8560 printer which has an Energy Star rating and uses cartridge-free compact blocks of solid ink instead of toner. When you run out of ink, there's nothing left to throw away. Toxin-free solid ink sticks make it a very environmentally-conscious way to print and because of the ink stick's small size, there's also less packaging to recycle; approximately 90% less waste than comparable colour laser printers.
- in an effort to reduce waste from shipping boxes I receive from suppliers, you can expect to receive a "recycled" box.

The origin of paper is also of great interest to some of my customers. Metallic cardstock and papers are made in Italy, Belgium and England. All textured and coloured cardstock are made in the US and France.  Handmade and embossed papers are from India, Thailand, Nepal, Japan, Taiwan & China (all these papers are marked to designate which country they are from).

My invitations and coordinating stationery are not a model of eco-perfection, but I hope my efforts bring more "green" into your wedding or event.
